Easy 5-Step Apple & Walnut Coffee Cake

Ingredients

Serves 6
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/8 tsp Salt
1/4 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1, chopped and cored Apple
1/2 cup Sour cream
1/4 cup Chopped walnuts
1/4 cup Brown sugar
1 tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Cinnamon

Directions for Easy 5-Step Apple & Walnut Coffee Cake

Stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a medium mixing bowl.

In a separate mixing bowl, beat together sugar and shortening. Continue beating until fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Stir in 1/2 of the dry ingredients from step 1. Mix in the sour cream and remainder of dry mixture. Mix well until blended.

Mix chopped apple into the blended ingredients. Spread mixed ingredients into a lightly greased and floured 8-inch pan.

In another small bowl, combine nuts, brown sugar, butter and cinnamon until the mixture becomes crumbly. Sprinkle over the top of the coffee cake.

Bake the coffee cake at 350 degrees in oven for 30 minutes or until cake is done. Serve cake while warm.
